![]() On this collectible coin the ‘heads’ side features the fifth definitive coinage portrait of Her Majesty the Queen by Jody Clark. The lettering reads ‘BEATRIX POTTER 1866 1943’. It features a silhouette portrait, curling vines and the instantly recognisable image of Peter Rabbit, her most famous creation. Emma Noble’s design for this 2016 pays tribute to Potter as an author, artist, scientist and conservationist. She put the funds into land and property in the Lake District, the majority of which was gifted to the National Trust after her death in 1943. The success of her books was partly down to a shrewd marketing strategy. She’s best known for her ‘Little Tales’ but Beatrix Potter was also a well respected mycologist, renown for her watercolours of fungi.
